Our German courses help you to learn the language in a lively, easy and fun way. We offer courses at the German language school in Bockenheim, near Rödelheim, online and privately at home from A1-C2.
Today our journey of discovery takes us to the Frankfurt's Rödelheim district, known for its Brentano pool. However, our adventure centres on the picturesque parks in the area and the pleasure of enjoying a delicious ice cream.
Once you arrive in Rödelheim, you can quickly reach the green heart of the city by public transport or by bike. The Brentano Parkpart of Frankfurt's GreenBelt, serves as our starting point. As we stroll through the extensive green spaces and along the Nidda, which is surrounded by plants, we discover artistically designed statues, cosy benches, a play area and the historically significant building of the Rödelheim Heritage and History Society, surrounded by rose beds. The tranquillity of the park invites you to relax, whether reading a book or listening to the birdsong.
We come across a charming, alpine-style cottage on the other bank of the Nidda, the Petrihaus. Originally built in 1720 as a half-timbered house, it was converted into a classicist Swiss house by Georg Brentano. Today it is a protected monument, a venue for events and houses a Brentano Museum. It is also associated with Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who once stayed here.
Our tour continues to the Solmsparkwhich seamlessly adjoins Brentano Park and is also crossed by the River Nidda. There we come across a model castle surrounded by a small wall and benches. An information board reveals that it is a model of Rödelheim Castle, which existed until 1944 and whose walls were uncovered a few years ago.
Along the densely overgrown Nidda, we finally cross the Mühlgraben. This picturesque spot, where the stream flows into the Nidda, attracts visitors to linger on the banks or enjoy the view of the "Blue footbridge"a bridge that connects the northern and southern sides of Rödelheim and has inspired many festivals.
Now it's time for an ice cream break! We leave the green bank via the Blue Footbridge and head towards the actual town centre. Near the railway station, we find the "Eis Café Gelateria", where we treat ourselves to a generous portion of banana ice cream. With a small but excellent selection and friendly service, the ice cream parlour offers a perfect experience.
Before we make our way back to Frankfurt, we visit the neo-Gothic St Anthony's Church, a monument both inside and out, and admire some of Rödelheim's traditional half-timbered houses.
Our language school Frankfurt will take care of your concerns and help you to achieve your goal.
